Broaden the book as a cultural enrichment factor was the aim of UNESCO's General Conference when it chose April 23 as World Book Day. In 1926, Spain was established, on the same date, the day of the Book, as it coincided with the death of Miguel de Cervantes, Shakespeare, and Garcilaso de la Vega. Anecdotally, on April 23 were born or died of other known writers such as Maurice Druon, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla and Manuel Mejía Vallejo.
